Temperament and Behavior

This small canine is loving and affectionate in nature. They love cuddling and are happy to be around other pets and children with their gentle nature.

Though the Dorkie is quite energetic, it is very laid back and loves to nap for hours especially under the bed covers!

These dogs have a very fun-loving and outgoing personality. They love meeting other pets, and their favorite place to be is at the dog park.

They are quite vocal, and have a good barking capability (which is shrilly at times) and alert the owner unfamiliar people/sounds.

They love to be around people and seek the attention of the family members. It is advised not to leave them alone for a long duration.

Care ~ Exercise

Like its parent breeds, the Dorkie requires only moderate exercise. They are playful and usually burn a lot of energy moving around. A few walking sessions and playtime for suffice your pooch and keep them healthy.

Grooming

The Dachshund-Yorkie Mix doesn’t shed too much and is low maintenance dog.

The Dorkie coat requires low to minimum maintenance and brushing just two times a week will be sufficient.

It is important with all breeds that you clean their ears and teeth regularly and have their nails trimmed and healthy.

Both the Yorkie and Dachshund breeds tend to live between 12 to 15 years.

The lifespan of a Dorkie is around 12- 13 years.

It is often believed that the crossbreeds are immune to health issues, but this is not always the case and certainly not guaranteed.
